Topic: Formal Review of Medea

Order Description

Well, this is it. This is the week when–if you choose–you get to be a theatre critic. The first full-length production you will have the opportunity to review is

Medea. The original script, by Euripides, was written 2,445 years ago. This adaptation, by Robinson Jeffers, was written in 1946. The production you will see was

staged and filmed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. It ran on Broadway, at the Cort Theatre, from April 27, 1982 to June 27, 1982, and starred Zoe Caldwell in

the title role.
You have the choice of commenting on the production on the Discussion Board, or of writing a formal review. If you choose to write a formal review, please submit it as

an assignment in final form.

As stated in the course description, you should submit a minimum of three reviews of full-length productions. These should be written as if you were writing for a

newspaper or magazine, so it is a formal essay. Please do not submit it until it is in its final form. You may write about Medea to meet this requirement, or you may

wait to review subsequent productions–the choice of which is up to you. In other words, writing a formal review of Medea is not a required assignment.

Watch Medea (1:27:00). If you choose to review this production (you should watch it, you don’t have to review it).
